As fine as meal
snow sifts through its walls,
outside, acros the miles
a blizzard wails

This night,
my breath is rimed with frost
and hay glows with a yellow light
from summers past

The scents are fall,
sweet timothy, wild rye,
and cold and faint, the clover smells
of open sky
